Rakesh W. Ramteke

Abstract

Logistics involves the coordination of receipts of orders from customers and setting up an invoicing system to receive payments. Successful supply chain management involves several decisions with varying time frames. Given the demand forecast and the business strategy of the firm, decision related to procurement, production, planning, distribution and transportation have to be integrated with customer order processing and inventory management decisions. Relationship management essentially involves the alignment of incentives to the various entities in the chain so that the overall supply chain performance meets customer requirements at the lowest cost.
